The Ephrussi bankers were one of the richest families before WW2 and the book describes the history of the family in fascinating details.
The second of the three lectures will review the book The Lady in Gold by Anne-Marie O’Connor. This book follows the adventures of the famous painting by Gustave Klimt The Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer and the story of the Bloch-Bauer family from late 19th century to the end of the 20th. The book describes the artistic milieu of Vienna before the German Anschluss and then follows the difficulties of regaining the ownership of the painting stolen by the Nazis.
