In the 1652 the Dutch established a small trading post at the tip of Africa, thus planting the seeds of what was to become a long struggle for dominance and survival between European settlers and the indigenous inhabitants .The conclusion of this struggle, finally achieved in the latter decades of the 20th century, would introduce the world to one of the great men of the era: Nelson Mandela. But have the hopes of the different racial and cultural groups been realized in the 'new South Africa'?
